Here are some frequently asked questions to help you, anything else you need to know that you cannot find on our website please do not hesitate to ask!
What time is check-in / check-out?
Check-in is from 3pm and Check-out is by 10am. Depending on bookings we are flexible with these times, we will advise if you are able to check in earlier or check out later.
DO YOU HAVE WIFI?
Yes! We have Starlink with high speed unlimited data.
Are pets allowed?
While we love our furry friends, pets are not allowed in or around the cottage unless by prior agreement. Please refrain from encouraging or feeding stray potcakes or potcats near the house as we have pets of our own that won't be too happy about it and of course when you leave we have to deal with them which can be very difficult. We appreciate your co-operation.
is parking available?
Yes! There is plenty of parking at the cottage.
DO YOU HAVE A WASHER / DRYER?
We have a washing machine located in the cupboard in the kitchen area and a clothes line just outside the cottage.
How far is it to the beach?
Rainbow Bay Beach is but a few yards away, situated directly opposite our cottage.
where is your nearest airport?
Governor's Harbour Airport (GHB) is our nearest airport being a 15 minute drive away. North Eleuthera Airport (ELH) is the second nearest being a 45 minute drive away.
what happens in the event of a power outage?
If there is a power outage, which can happen due to bad weather or maintenance, please do not worry as it will come back on shortly. If it happens to be out for a long period of time we do have a generator as a back-up.
WHAT DO WE DO WITH OUR TRASH
Please note that there is no garbage collection service in Rainbow Bay, instead we have a dedicated Trash Site located off on the corner of Ocean Drive/Fisherman's Drive off the Queen's Highway (Atlantic side). Please place your bagged garbage in the black bin located at the back of the house, we will dispose of it for you during our Trash Runs!
is it safe to drink the tap water?
We would not recommend you drink the tap water, drink bottled water only. We supply you with a 5 gallon water bottle which can be swapped at Big Rock Grocery Store for $6 when needed. Just take your empty into the store and swap for a full one, just ask Tony the store owner if you are unsure.
WHAT IS YOUR WATER SOURCE?
We are on city water and have a back-up cistern.
where are the nearest bars / restaurants?
The nearest restaurant is The Sunset Cove & Rainbow Room (formerly and fondly
known as The Rainbow Inn) and is a 5 minute drive along the Queen's Highway from our
cottage heading North.
Heading into the settlement of James Cistern, a 10 minute drive away heading South, you will find Delish Lifestyle Beach Sports Bar and Restaurant, LeoRose Sunset Beach Bar & Grill, Mel's Snack Shack, D'Jay's Cafe, Da Conch Hut, Juice City and the infamous and oh so delicious Stubbs BBQ (Under the Tamarind Tree Grill). Delish Lifestyle and LeoRose both have live music on certain days.
Heading North into the settlement of Hatchet Bay you will find The Front Porch, Twin Brothers, Rednip Sports Lounge & Grill, Boaters Haven Bar, Grill & Convenience Store.
WHERE IS THE NEAREST GROCERY STORE?
Big Rock Grocery Store is located just outside Rainbow Bay off the Queen's Highway and is owned by Tony Bethel and family. Tony, the proprietor, accepts debit cards and does a great job stocking fresh dairy items and produce. He is open 7 days a week, Monday to Saturday from 7am to 6.30pm and Sundays from 7am to 1pm. You can also find JC Discount Store and East & Final Store in James Cistern and heading toward Hatchet Bay you will find Hearty Mows Farmland Stand just off the Queen's Highway and TLC Convenience Store along Meeting Street.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?
We would suggest you bring bug spray (with Deet), reef safe sun lotion, sun hat, walking shoes if you plan on doing some walking, sea shoes.
